 Egg-citing!Jan 10, 2008
A friend of mine who knew of my almost daily grilling, called to invite me over to join him in a steak dinner he was preparing on his BGE. He went on, and on about how wonderful it was.
I agreed join him for dinner, but was more than a little apprehensive about his new high priced smoker/grill. I mean.. the mousetrap had already been invented.
Upon my arrival, my doubts multiplied when I saw this odd shaped rather small device. He had the temperature up to 660 + degrees, and then...He placed his hand on the outside top BGE! and didnt get burned! A nice safety touch I thought, but what about the food.
He placed the steaks on the grill, closed the top, and then in just 2 minutes, he opened it, turned them, and closed it again. In 2 more minutes, he repeated the proceedure, and closed off the vents to the Egg.
In 2 minutes, he opened the Egg, pulled off the steaks and headed inside.
I asked him what he was doing.. he told me.. "they're done, prepare to be amazed". I was. When I cut into my steak, I expected a nearly raw cut of steak. Instead, what I found was a perfectly cooked, (MR), wonderfully seared, most juicy, tender steak I have ever enjoyed.
The next day, I went over and tried a smoked chicken he had make on his Egg. Again, it was fall off the bone tender, with a light smoked flavor through and through.
The next day, I bought my own Big Green Egg, and I can tell you that it has been the absolute best smoking/grilling/baking investment I have ever made. The product has a LIFETIME guarantee.
The Big Green Egg is fantastic.

The Only Grill You Will Ever NeedSep 12, 2007
I have had my Big Green Egg for 3 years now. I have gotten thousands of compliments on the food that I cook on this grill. The setup is easy to use because of its simple design. I would hate to have to struggle with a gas grill when I can simply toss some charcoal into the Egg and fire it up with some lighter sticks. Why spend 2-3k for a stainless steel grill which you'll rarely use, when you can spend under 1k for a ceramic smoker that everyone will enjoy. I grill at least 3-4 times a week, and trust me, you won't be disappointed with this superb product.

Expert Grilling / Smoking for DummiesAug 30, 2007
I have owned the Large and Medium sized BGE for 2 years now. The versatility in cooking temperatures and durations is hands down better than any grill smoker I have ever owned. The temperature control is precise...I have slow cooked pork at 225 deg for 14 hours without touching the vents and I have cooked/seared 1 3/4" Ribeyes at 800 deg in 10 minutes. If you follow the simple instructions in the manual and tips from the recipe section of the BGE website you will not be disappointed (fish, chicken, lamb, beef, pork, pizza, bread all come out excellent)!
My neighbors come running when they smell the BGE fire up and yours will too!

We own the BIG Green Egg . I feel like we bought into the hype. It is not as Big Inside as many other smokers. I really like the big half barrels with the side fire better. The Big Green Egg has VERY LIMITED room for meat. (and we got the largest egg available) It's ok for a small meal but If you want to do vegetables or anything with your meat, it is almost impossible. The temp holds well and the food is great....but actually not any better than my other smoker with double grates and plenty of room. So I rate the egg 3 stars. I would not purchase it again because of it's capacity limitations. I usually need to smoke several racks of ribs and vegetables for a family gathering and this does not have the room. I do Not like the shelf at all . The Egg is also too expensive. We are Year round regular smokers and grill users. There are better buys and better grills for the regular smoker user. We have to save the Egg for small meals. This is Disappointing when you purchase the large Egg.

Buyer beware!May 13, 2007
Great cooker, however, be aware that the mothership (Big Green Egg) will not warranty any size Egg bought over the Internet, only from their authorized 'land' dealers. Make sure that your online seller is an authorized BGE dealer and that they will guarantee you a warranty if bought over the Internet.
Certain components of the Big Green Egg (and other ceramic mfg's as well) have a tendency to crack or break. The firebox, for example. If under warranty, it will be replaced. If not under warranty, you buy the replacement firebox, plus shipping, yourself.
